I get the impression that Steiner, naturally clairvoyant, sensed from early on that his significant meetings all had past-life connections. Mostly he could say nothing at that time. He had to wait until he was 40 until he could speak openly about his esoteric perceptions at all.
Today things have changed, and perception has opened up for many people, including myself – see Reincarnation Within Christianity. Several past incarnations of Steiner have come to me, with confirmation after confirmation: all lives Steiner simply could not have talked about in that lifetime, even if he’d known. The revelations would have blinded people and burned out the awakening Steiner sought to develop gently, slowly, hands-on. Yet now I believe we need the knowledge, to come to terms with the subtle but powerful brilliance from Steiner that students of Anthroposophy know all too well, to challenge some of Steiner’s Spiritual Scientific conclusions, and to open it up further, in line with his principles, in ways that are logical and comfortable yet run deep, as Steiner himself did, and as our times call for.
It’s nearly 50 years since I first encountered Rudolf Steiner. That encounter was a tremendous sense of homecoming for me, and a tremendous gift for my future, helping me cope with the Asperger Syndrome I didn’t know I had. I had to work hard to make sense of things; it was Steiner’s deep wisdom that didn’t just help me cope but uplifted and blessed me, and set me on the road to tremendous spiritual awakening and insights. For the obverse side of my fateful Asperger’s is that because I really had to dig deep, and dig independently, in time this started to pay off, and to yield insights that have been luminous, faithful and true, and (when not too bright) have been helpful to many others.
On rare occasions I appear to have seen the spirit of Steiner direct. I shared my experiences at the time: they were attended by high synchronicities. Things like that gives me confidence in my revelations.
I’ve been sure for some time that Steiner had been both Abraham and Moses in earlier incarnations. Anthroposophist Edward Reaugh Smith sensed the Abraham connection; one of the Christian Community priests sensed the Moses connection. Was it Rudolf Frieling? I’ve also known for some time that Steiner made a big “mistake” about the dating of the Star Ages, which we will presently do full justice to: I suspect the truth was veiled because it was too brilliant for then, and had to be held back. All the issues merely stated or outlined in this key article will be opened up further in subsequent articles; also the strong telltale Hebrew links and Star Age links.
Steiner tells of his life as Eabani / Enkidu, the “wild man” companion to Gilgamesh, who lived before Abraham. How could Enkidu fit in with a subsequent Hebrew lineage? I then had the strong sense that there must be a key lifetime in the Adamic lineage before Abraham: but who?
My Bible studies, reinforced by Steiner’s understanding, give me great confidence in the Genesis account of the patriarchs, and basically in all the numbers involved. Nothing happens by accident – as is clear to anyone who has seen any of the real Bible codes. But the Genesis account of “Creation” appears to clash strongly with the records of geology. However, we can read Genesis in a different way, to reconcile the two, without devaluing or changing anything in the text.
Genesis can be seen as a luminously descriptive and imaginative yet accurate account of the development of the human embryo. And of course that will be a kind of recapitulation of Creation, that harmonizes with what Science brings – how else could it be? The words of Genesis hold accurately in picture form the whole story up to birth, through the first three chapters. Only with the birth of Cain and Abel do we fully enter history, albeit still a preparatory childlike dream hidden in the background of other older civilizations.
The core lineage of the Adamic patriarchal lineage was faithfully recorded for a reason. The Elohim had intervened in human history, had set the foundations for a subtly “upgraded” form of the human body and abilities, right up to the time of Abraham; and from the time of Moses, had set them apart as a whole nation – for a purpose. Many of the original lineage broke away to become rulers of nations, and/or migrate to all corners of the world, forget their lineage – and become ancestors of us all, as the Divine Plan always intended. Adam appears at the beginning of the Star Age of Taurus; Abraham is the first born in the Star Age of Aries.
Suddenly – only very recently – it all clicked into place. Steiner had lived as Abel: the second son of Adam who was slain by his brother Cain.
